Najib not among those in 1MDB probe: Swiss AG
Kuala Lumpur: The Office of the Attorney-General of Switzerland has clarified that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is not among the individuals accused of wrongdoing in an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds involving 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). "In the ongoing criminal proceedings of the Office of the Attorney-General, Najib is not one of the public officials under accusation," Andre Marty (pic), spokesman for the OAG, was quoted as saying by the Nikkei Asian Review.

The OAG opened criminal proceedings last August against two former 1MDB officials and "persons unknown" in connection with suspected misappropriations amounting to US$4 billion.

Continuing with its probe, the OAG stressed that Najib is not a suspect.

Last week, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali cleared Najib of any wrongdoing in relation to investigations into former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6 billion alleged to have been deposited into the Prime Minister's bank account.

Mohamed Apandi said the investigations revealed that the amount deposited was RM2.08 billion, and it was a personal donation from the Saudi royal family in 2013, of which RM2.03 billion was returned to the contributor the same year.

Meanwhile, 1MDB said in a statement it had not been contacted by any foreign legal authorities on any matter relating to the company.
