Neglecting pet dog: Woman is fined RM4,000

TAIPING: A woman was fined RM4,000, in default six months' jail, by the Magistrate's Court here Wednesday for neglecting her pet dog, a Rottweiler.Magistrate Mohamed Ruhizat Abdullah handed down the sentence on Anna Teoh Poh Ling, who pleaded guilty to the charge.Teoh, 42, was charged with committing the offence by unreasonably omitting to feed and care for the pet dog at Lorong MB 7, Taman Medan Bersatu, Kampung Boyan, here, at 9.50am on March 6 last year.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The charge, under Section 44 (1)(d) of the Animals Act 1953, carries a fine of not more than RM5,000 or imprisonment for a year, or both, if found guilty.The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer from the Veterinary Department, Mohammad Nizam Abdullah.
