SJK Chung Hwa Tamparuli win championship

Penampang: SJK © Chung Hwa Tamparuli emerged as champion in the 41st Sabah Sports Council Zone Tamparuli Athletics Championship at the Penampang Stadium, Tuesday.They accumulated six golds and five silvers to take home the trophy and cash prize of RM800 followed by SK Pekan Tamparuli with five golds, one silvers and six bronzes win RM500 and SK Kapa in third with two golds, four silvers and three bronzes received RM300.Nacheal Wilson Silim from SK Bundu Tahuri won the best boy athlete award with his haul of two golds in the 100m and long jump and he also collected RM200 while the girl's title and RM200 prize was won by Nathalie Angel David of SJK © Chung Hwa Tamparuli who won one gold in the 4 x100 relay and one silver in the 4 x 200 relay.

Some 238 under-12 students from 14 schools took part in eight events at the two-day competition which was held annually to select athletes to represent the zone in the Tuaran district meet.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The cash incentives provided this year was sponsored by Sabah Badminton Association President Janih Bangud who said in his speech that it is through such sporting activities that can drive the students to be healthy. He also said the zone competition has produced many athletes who are both good in the sport and studies such as badminton players Lawrie Herman and Donita Maisol in the past. Also present at the closing ceremony were district education officers, principals and teachers.
