Digi 2015 pre-tax profit falls to RM2.65 billion

Kuala Lumpur: DiGi.Com Bhd's pre-tax profit for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015 decreased to RM2.31 billion from RM2.65 billion a year ago.Revenue fell RM6.91 billion from RM7.02 billion previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia Friday.Pre-tax profit for the fourth quarter (Q4) ended Dec 31, 2015 fell to RM519.36 million from RM660.17 million.

Revenue eased to RM1.72 billion from RM1.80 billon in the same quarter a year ago.DiGi said it invested an additional RM288 million in capital expenditure (capex) in Q4 2015, with a cumulative investment of RM904 million as planned to support its aggressive Fourth-generation wireless Long-Term Evolution (4G LTE) and 4G LTE-A network deployment nationwide.It said the capex level would be maintained this year to continue driving the Internet growth. On subscribers, DiGi said, it closed the year (2015) with 12.1 million, growing Internet subscribers to 7.5 million, or 61.9 per cent of its total customer base."The stronger Internet subscribers, fuelled by higher smartphone penetration rate of 59.2 per cent and affordable mobile Internet bundles with the latest digital services content, contributed to 11.5 per cent increase in Internet revenue for the quarter," it said.
