Man and daughter injured in snatch attempt
Lahad Datu: A man and his daughter sustained injuries in a yet another snatch theft attempt, this time at Lahad Datu Airport here, on Thursday. It was learnt that the woman had gone to the airport to send her older sister off when the incident took place at about noon.

The older sister had already gone into the airport premises when her younger sister was approached by a man as she alighted from the vehicle driven by their father.

A tug-of-war ensued between them when the unidentified man who was armed with a machete suddenly lunged for her bag from behind.

The commotion triggered her father into action as he rushed to her aid prompting a struggle with the thief who fled the scene empty handed.

The woman sustained several cuts on her hands and leg while her father suffered injuries to his hand believed sustained after being hit with the machete during the scramble.

A police report was subsequently lodged by the man and his daughter after their injuries were treated.

The latest episode comes barely a month after a woman was dragged into a vehicle when she refused to give up her bag in an attempted snatch theft behind a bank premises in the State Capital.

The 27-year-old woman was able to escape and recover her bag, when the vehicle crashed into another in front of the Suria Shopping Complex.
