Kunak: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Silam questioned the reason behind the delay in relocating fire victims in Kg Pangkalan to the People's Housing Project (PPR) here. Its Information Chief Citra Masadi said the slowness had caused discomfort to the people as they were forced to live in the cramped multi-purpose hall in Kg Jaya Baru.

"Their houses were destroyed in 2014 and until now they are forced to live in the hall. Where is the Kunak leader who promised to relocate them to the more comfortable dwellings in the PPR?" he said.

Citra claimed in July 2014, Kunak Assemblyman Datuk Nilwan Kabang said the victims will be relocated to the PPR in October that year. The news was reported in a national paper online portal.

The PPR Kunak, which is located at Km 6, Jalan Kunak-Tawau, has 400 units of houses and facilities such as a surau, a community centre and a children playground. It had been fully completed but left unoccupied to this day.

Meanwhile, Citra said, local leaders especially Assemblymen must resolve the water supply problem in Kg Sri Bahagia and Kg Mostyn Lama, here.

Furthermore, he said, Kg Sri Bahagia also needs a fire hydrant especially because the village had been in existence for decades.

"Leaders said they will resolve the problem in 2011 but those were empty promises because election was coming," he said.
