Annual CNY, Ramadan market for Kudat

Kudat: Jalan Lo Thien Chok at Kudat old township will be holding an annual night market or carnival during the Chinese New Year and Ramadan beginning this year. Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang said such event would not only enhance the festive spirit in town but also stimulate the local market and spur the economy in Kudat. Teo, who is also Tanjong Kapor Assemblyman, made the announcement after inspecting the inaugural Chinese New Year carnival and night market at Jalan Lo Thien Chok recently.

Apart from hawker stalls, there were also performances by more than 30 dragon, unicorn and lions combined. More than 3,000 people have joined in the Chinese New Year celebration in town. Teo said he was pleased to see that the dragon, unicorn and lion dance troupes have volunteered to perform at the event, as well as the sponsored audio system for the carnival.
