Nazri: Be patient on solution

style="text-transform: uppercase;">Ranau: Tourism and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz urged all parties to wait for whatever conclusion that may be taken concerning the case of child custody involving a kindergarten teacher, M Indira Ghandi.He said everyone must rest assured that a solution will be reached on that particular issue, and there is no need for making speculation about the matter, especially in the media.

"All I can say about the matter is that actions are now being taken to resolve all the disputes.

We need not prolong this issue, moreover to discuss it in the newspapers. What's important is the solution," he said.

Three ministers have been assigned to look into the conversion case, namely; Nazri, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.

Asked if the panel was given any timeframe in order to resolve the matter, Nazri said there is no need for time frame because the more pressing concern is to find the best solution.

"No need for time frame. Solution is what we're after. Having said that, I am confident that in a little longer, we will find the solution for this particular case which all being waiting for."

According to him, in resolving the case, the they would also depend on when the Parliament meets.

Meanwhile, Nazri praised Sabah Parks for maintaining the beauty and freshness of Kinabalu Park, especially along the climbing route to Mount Kinabalu.

"Today we all know that Kinabalu Park reopened in January and I came to look and see for myself the effort to restore Kinabalu Park, especially regarding mountaineering.

"In my opinion, touching on tourism in Malaysia, Sabah is a gem, but Mount Kinabalu is the diamond.

To be honest, we are lucky because God gave us the highest and the second highest mountain in Southeast Asia, Mount Kinabalu, Mount Trus Madi.

"These gifts are not for us to exploit but to be enjoyed and shared with the world. But most of all we must keep them for the sake of our present generation as well as our future generations.

"As long as we take care of the natural environment in our region, then nature will take care of us well by giving us many fold that we will enjoy the benefits for all time," he said.

He was speaking in a press conference at the Liwagu Restaurant Kinabalu Park while making his annual visit to the state on Saturday.

Nazri agreed with the proposal to build more accommodation in strategic locations in the park like the area located near Layang-Layang.

"My ministry has allocated special allocation as those mentioned by Director of Sabah Parks, Dr Jamili Nais previously which is now at the stage of calling tender and I hope it can be expedited.

"I fully agree with the proposals that have been presented by Sabah Parks. Especially for me is to allow more visitors to enjoy the experience of being on Mount Kinabalu," he said.

He promised effort on his side to get the allocation under the Ministry of Tourism because if there is increase in lodging here, hikers and visitors will spend more time here.

"We want them to spend more days and nights and not rush. Let the visitors especially climbers enjoy climbing because this is not just a matter of climbing a mountain but to experience the beauty of the flora and fauna as well as scenic views along the way up."

Nazri stressed that he will give full support for any effort to make this park the best in the world.

Questioned about the new route to the summit of Kinabalu being a little further as well as challenging, he said, it is a positive thing that gives added value to the climbers.

"In fact, those who make such comparisons only those climbers who once scaled Mount Kinabalu via the old track.

For those who are first to climb the mountain via the new route, they would not feel the route is more challenging.

"However, we can take the positives for the fact that the new path that is more beautiful and scenic compared to the old route. As I said that we want the visitors to spend more time at Kinabalu Park," he said.

Also present were Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sabah Parks, Dato Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin Tengku Mahamood, among others.
