SESB Kolopis-Segaliud transmission upgrading work

Tambunan: The upgrading project of the Kolopis-Segaliud 275kV transmission lines is significant as it is one of the lines that support the electricity generation system in the East Coast, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.Pairin who is also the Infrastructure Development Minister, said he believed Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will prepare an early contingency plan to face any power disruption during the course of replacement works. "The people of Tambunan are thankful and will support any SESB's effort to provide a better service to the people in the district, especially to overcome power disruption in line with SESB's new tagline, 'You light our pride'," he said in a speech read by his Assistant, Datuk Bobbey Suan during a visit at the project site.ADVERTISEMENT Meanwhile, in his briefing, SESB General Manager (Transmission) Ir Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said they will ensure a minimal impact during the replacement of damaged towers at Kg Kerokot.During the upgrading which started on Apr 1 until Apr 13, SESB will conduct planned power outages."A contingency plan, including activating Demand Side Management (DSM) on large power consumers (LPC) and providing a standby generator set to face any possibility of power disruption."The project was conducted following an SESB's monitoring report together with Ikram Sabah recently where the legs of the tower in Kg Kerokot was bent due to erosion.ADVERTISEMENT "The line is also the main line used to support the electricity generation system in the East Coast where nearly 200 MegaWatts of power supply being exported to the area daily," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Towards this end, SESB is in the process of replacement and installing a new tower on an alternative site nearby which will cost about RM3.5 million.
