Man gets 12 months for having stolen valuables

Kota Kinabalu: A 33-year-old local man was sentenced to 12 months' jail for having stolen valuables.Andrew Agustinus pleaded guilty before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to having four stolen handphones, a stolen power bank and a pair of stolen shoes belonging to one Lim Kon Oi at 6.35pm on March 30 at Jalan Tuaran Mile 7.Inspector Isfandiar Jasdi, prosecuting, told the court that the items were reported missing from Lim's house, which was broken into earlier the same day.

Andrew was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine or both on conviction.Meanwhile, the court set May 16 for mention of a case involving a 37-year-old man charged with threatening his wife with a fish spear, pending an instruction from Deputy Public Prosecutor's (DPP) office.Balitus set the date for Sunny Liew after his wife told the court that she had lodged a police report to withdraw the charge against him.Liew was accused of committing the offence against his 33-year-old wife at 3am on Feb 22 at Taman Malakun in Penampang as framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

In another case, the court also set May 16 for mention of another case involving a 38-year-old charged with assaulting his 14-year-old daughter pending the DPP's instruction.Raemi Noorafandi was accused of causing hurt to his daughter at 6am on Feb 22 in a room of a house at Putatan.
