Kota Kinabalu: A "former Bishop" who converted to Islam and is due to give a talk at Sidma College in Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday has nothing to do with the Anglican/Episcopal Church of St Augustine of Canterbury in Frankfurter, Germany, where he claims to have once served. Rev. Christopher Easthill who is in charge of the church in an email response to a Daily Express query said the church is an American Episcopal Church and all the priests have come from the United States of America since the end of the Second World War. It denied the claim being made by the Malaysian Muslim preacher that he was a former priest or bishop of the church.

"I have had a number of enquiries about this gentleman recently. His claims are untrue. He has never served here, neither as rector, nor as associate priest," Rev. Easthill said. In a poster that is circulated on social media, the man, who goes by the name Ustaz Ayub Abdul Rahman (pic), identified himself as a former bishop at the St Augustine of Canterbury Church, Frankfurter in Germany and Sarawak Tokoh Maal Hijrah in 2005.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
