Mabul Police Station first to use hybrid green tech

Semporna: The Mabul Police Station has become the first police station in the country to use the hybrid green technology which is capable of saving up to 75 per cent in power usage. Management Department Director Dato Sri Zulkifli Abdullah said solar powered electricity which has a capacity of 36 kilowatts has benefited 150 officers and personnel since it began operations at the end of December last year.

According to him, they can enjoy up 24-hour power supply and that the diesel saved and the cost of gen-set maintenance was reduced up to 75 per cent or RM492,750 a year.

He added that the police will expand the use of solar power in appropriate police stations because it is more economical and environment friendly.

He said this during the launching ceremony of the green hybrid technology at Mabul Island here, on Monday.

Also present were the State police headquarters Management Department Chief SAC Omar Mammah, Region Four Marine Commander ACP Mohamad Madun and Semporna Police Chief Supt Peter Umbuas.

Zulkifli also said implementation of the project showed that the police force is very concerned about the welfare of its personnel posted on the island and hoped that their spirits will be lifted with the availability of the infrastructure.
