Run-cum-carnival to raise health awareness Sunday

Kota Kinabalu: KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital and Damai Specialist Hospital are jointly organising the KPJ Colour Run and Health Carnival 2016 on Sunday (April 24) at Taman Rekreasi Teluk Likas, Tanjung Lipat.Over 2,500 participants have registered for the 5K Run, which will kick off at the park. The participants will run along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen and back, where the run ends. Ahead of the flagging off by Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai at 7am, there will also be a Zumba session.Apart from the run, the Health Carnival includes programmes such as colouring activities for children, the appearance of Olaf & Minions, busking music performances and quizzes, among others. KPJ Clinical Oncologist, Dato' Dr Jaswant Singh, will give a talk on cancer. There will also be exhibitions by the KPJ team on basic health screening, Meet-Your-Pharmacist-and-Dietician sessions, hand hygiene awareness, lucky draws, promotions and others.The theme "It's Not Just A Colour, It's A call To Action" is to raise public awareness on health and the importance of medical screening for early detection of health condition, in particular, cancer.
