Putra Jaya: The Permata Programmes are to hold the Permata International Conference 2016 from May 31 to June 2 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, for the first time combining all the seven areas of the programmes. Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Prime Minister, said the conference would serve as a platform to share the good practices and initiatives of the seven programmes - Permata Negara, Permata Pintar, Permata Seni, Permata Insan, Permata Kurnia, Perkasa Remaja and Permata Children's Hospital. "Previously, every international conference was organised separately according to their respective areas. ADVERTISEMENT This year, Permata will hold a more integrated and holistic conference to provide higher impact," she said at the soft launch of the conference here Thursday. Rosmah, who is patron of the Permata Programmes, said the conference, with the theme 'Children beyond Tomorrow', would be opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. She said the theme was in line with the implementation of the Permata Programmes that developed a strong foundation in the care and education of children at an early age to prepare them to face a more challenging future. Rosmah said the conference would also emphasise the importance of quality education and intervention for children and youngsters across the age groups, besides fostering public awareness and enhanced understanding of the optimal development of children. ADVERTISEMENT The conference would include a plenary session that would illustrate the seven Permata programmes, and this would be followed by concurrent sessions and workshops to provide participants the opportunity to choose topics according to their interests, she said. It would also have a high-level forum that would highlight the speeches of the first ladies attending the meeting, she said.
