RM515m to boost power supply in Sabah: Max

Kota Kinabalu: Efforts are undertaken by Sabah's utility body to further reduce power interruptions in the State.Saying the power supply situation in the State has improved, Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili hoped the targeted System Average Interruption Duration Index (Saidi) of 250 minutes set for this year could be achieved.Speaking after being briefed on electricity supply in the State by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) officials, Friday, Ongkili said the Federal Government has allocated RM515 million to strengthen and upgrade transmission and supply of electricity in Sabah.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

He added that the allocation was part of the RM2.3 billion approved by the Federal Government for four years, until 2019."In addition, SESB is also working on several initiatives to reduce Saidi in Sabah which, among others, include upgrading power plants and substations in the State," said Ongkili. He noted that through past efforts, as of April 19 this year, SESB had managed to reduce its Saidi to 181.45 minutes.
