Kuching: DAP and PKR are blaming each other for the fiasco that has led them to clash in six constituencies in the May 7 state polls. "We feel that DAP has been shortchanged. I find that very disappointing, of course, as it will create confusion among supporters," DAP national secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said.Following PKR's move to contest in five seats targeted by DAP, the former made good on its threat to stand in the new Chinese-majority constituency of Batu Kitang which was earlier allocated to PKR.

Speaking to the media at the Senadin nomination centre in Miri, Lim insisted that PKR should have stuck to the handwritten agreement on seat allocation reached between him and PKR deputy president Datuk Azmin Ali on April 7."It's not just one seat, it's five seats. If it's one seat, we can try to overlook but how can we overlook five seats? There was no commitment to abide by the agreement," he added. Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian said the decision to nominate the party candidates "was made collectively by both the state and national leaderships"."The seats that we are contesting are places where we have been working hard for years.

The window for negotiation with DAP was open until the very last day before the nomination day and we also put forward the proposals to resolve the disputes," he said in a statement. "Unfortunately, we had not heard anything from DAP until midnight yesterday."

Baru urged voters to choose wisely and support candidates who had worked hard with better chances of winning.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
