Junior Rhinos to field new-look frontline against Melaka

Kota Kinabalu: Justin Ganai's President Cup squad are going for a new-look frontline against Melaka away at the Stadium Hang Tuah today (Thursday) starting at 4.45pm.Struggling for goals after eight matches played, the veteran coach has opted to end the first round match with Saliun Mastar teaming up with Fuad Amin Madlan up front.Saliun who has been playing as a defensive midfielder since the start of the season is no stranger to the striker role since he started his President Cup career in that position last year.

With him starting, first choice Rahman Shah Marajeh will start on the bench while Zulfadlisham Roseland will take over the defensive role in midfield.Apart from firing blanks in most matches with only six goals scored to date, the team also have the poorest defensive record in Group B with 14 goals conceded, and the worst goal difference with a minus eight, two more than Kuala Lumpur who are at the bottom of the group while Sabah are a place above.The strategy for the match today by Justin seemed to be beefing up the defence and at the same time hoping the new-look strike partnership will work and create goals for the team.The other changes today against the team who are in seventh position and two points ahead will see the return of Ikhmal Akid Bahari on the left flank to replace Devid Ansarui while O'Neil Shanahan Marcellinus Bungkilan, who was one of the few tried out in the centre forward position, will play on the right with Dexy Mildy Juanis as the playmaker.
