College holding Dining in the Dark Programme Saturday

Kota Kinabalu: The Dining in the Dark Programme organised by Sidma College this Saturday at Padang Merdeka, will also feature a Form 2 visually-impaired student Mohd Amar Amirul Amin Mat Zin.Mohd Amar was invited by the college to perform during the charity event. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Sabah Society for the Blind.

Amar is the winner of the National level Special Education Solo Singing Competition in 2015 and first runner up at the 2015 National-level Special Education Tilawah Al-Quran Competition at Sabak Bernam in Selangor.

Sabah Society for the Blind President Datuk Rosalind Chin said she appreciates Sidma College's efforts in organising such event and hoped that the cooperation between the society and the college will continue in the future.

When met at SMK Badin, Amar said he was very proud to be invited to the event and will be performing two songs.

According to Sidma College Chairman Dr Morni Kambri, the programme is in conjunction with the Health Carnival organised by Kota Kinabalu Health Office from Apr 30 to May 1.

"This will be the first time the Dining in the Dark programme is held in the open space. However, the programme will not be held in total darkness. In the future, this programme will be held using different concepts with the cooperation of the society," he said.

During the event, other than Amar, other performers would include saxophonist Joachim Gabin or more popularly known as Joe Gaban, modern dance Krump from IDOL Zone, Tagaps Dance crew and many others.

Sidma College Chief Executive Azizah Khalid Merican said the event would provide opportunities for the public to dine, be entertained while at the same time contribute to charity.

She added that the cooperation between the college and the society will be continued in the future.

"Rosalind had planned several CSR activities and some of them would be carried out by Sidma College students and staff," she said.
