Faster promotion for these govt servants

Kota Kinabalu: More than 3,000 Special to Holder (KUP) public servants in the State will benefit from the time-based excellence principle.State Public Service Commission Chairman Datuk Ismail Awang Besar said through the method, the promotion period of KUP will be shortened from 15 years to 13 years and the excellence assessment of officers will also be taken into consideration.

Ismail also said more than 1,000 public servants holding flexi positions in the State will also be promoted from Grade 41 to Grade 44 this year.

"Those holding flexi positions who have served for eight years after validation will be automatically promoted to Grade 44.

"In Sabah, more than 1,000 Grade 41 public servants in various schemes will be promoted. Towards this end, track record is vital for us to help in promoting them," he said after a courtesy call to Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, at the Istana Negeri.

According to him, they have approved no less than 300 promotions every year and there are 16,000 officers under the supervision of the commission while 15 officers will retire this year.

Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Makio Miyagawa also paid a courtesy call to Juhar.

Makio wanted to thank the Malaysian government for its assistance to Japanese nationals involved in the earthquake last year.

Aside from that, he also discussed cooperation on security issues and will also attend the cocktail event in conjunction with the Royal Malaysian Navy's 82nd Anniversary.
