Cops nab IPT student over drug trafficking

Ipoh: Police detained a student from an institute of higher learning (IPT) believed to be trafficking in drugs around Seri Iskandar, near here, early Thursday.Perak police chief Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Hanafi said with a tip-off from the public, the 22-year-old male suspect was arrested in front of a supermarket in Seri Iskandar, about 2.45am."We found 1,020 grammes of ganja and 5.22 gm of eramine 5 worth RM2,000 under the suspect's car seats," he told a press conference after the 46th Cadet Corps anniversary assembly at the Perak police contingent level here.ADVERTISEMENT He said the student who hails from Penang tested positive for ganja but had no previous criminal record.The suspect was remanded for seven days from Thursday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahim asked schools in Perak which have yet to establish the Police Cadet Corps to do so immediately so as to inculcate noble values such as discipline, self-esteem and to work as a team, while at the same time the students can be exposed to policing duties early. In Perak, 168 of the 247 secondary schools have set up the Police Cadet Corps involving 9,590 students, he said. – Bernama
