TAPAH: Nor Wadiah Ahmad Hadzir had hoped to only win a rice cooker at the Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) 2016. Instead, the teacher drove home the grand prize of the main competition, a Perodua Axia 1.0 Advance car.

The win was an even bigger surprise for Nor Wadiah, 40, from Ipoh, as she only submitted four entry forms for the competition.

"I 'targeted' winning the rice cooker but did not expect to get the main prize. I am still shocked over the win and could not even sleep last night" she told reporters after receiving the car's mock ignition keys at the Tun Ahmad Sarji Stadium here Thursday.

The teacher at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buyong Adil said the car she won would be for the family to use even though she owned a Suzuki Swift.

"I am not going to sell this car as it is a prize which is very meaningful to me," said Nor Wadiah, a mother of two.

The nine-day annual MSAM programme which ended Thursday, saw a record turnout of 181,946 visitors, as of wednesday, exceeding the targeted 150,000.

Organised by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), MSAM 2016 is an investment educational programme themed, 'Investment 360 PNB' and has drawn more than three million visitors since it was started in 2000.

The programme includes various investment educational activities for people of all walks of life from around Tapah, Kampar, Ipoh, Bidor, Teluk Intan and Tanjung Malim. – Bernama
