Indecent behaviour at KKIA lands man in jail

Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate's Court on Thursday sentenced a man to 14 days' jail for behaving indecently at a police station.Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun meted out the sentence to Ijaz Ahmed Ahmed Yar after he admitted to committing the offence at 8pm on April 27 in front of a police counter on the third floor of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.Ijaz was charged under Section 90 of the Police Act which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine of up to RM500, or both, on conviction.

He had earlier requested for a fine, saying he wanted to return to Johor Baru and promised not to commit a similar offence.Meanwhile, another man was jailed eight months for having for sale 25 pieces of uncensored films in DVDs.Aldimar Ammang admitted to having the films without the required 'B' certificate from the Film Censorship Board at 8.10pm on April 10 at the Inanam night market.In the same court, one Afendi Paulus claimed trial to stealing a motorcycle. Afendi allegedly stole the machine belonging to one Mohd Syahwani at 12.05am on April 23 at a village in Papar.

In another case, a 21-year-old man pleaded not guilty to having a knuckle-duster in public.

Samrizman Samrizal was accused of having the dangerous weapon at 8.30am on April 24 along the pedestrian walk, Jalan Coastal, here. He was offered bail at RM2,800 in two sureties pending mention of his case on May 11.
