Man killed in Tawau crash

Tawau: A local succumbed to his injuries after the Toyota Corolla vehicle he was driving crashed at Mile 7, Jalan Apas, here, Wednesday. District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus identified the 48-year-old man as Chin Sing Bing. "The man was pronounced dead by paramedics from the Tawau Hospital due to severe facial and head injuries," he said, adding that the mishap took place at about 11.35pm.

He said initial investigations showed the man was driving alone towards the city when he was believed to have lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a corner.The impact caused the vehicle to skid before crashing into a tree at the road divider. Fadil said early investigations showed the accident was due to the driver's negligence in failing to control his vehicle. A team from the District Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene after responding to an emergency call at about 12.03am and extricated the body which was trapped in the wreckage at about 12.49am.
