PPA1M can solve housing issues

Alor Setar: The 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Programme (PPA1M) is expected to solve the housing issue of almost one million civil servants in the country. Public Service Department Director-General Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal Abidin said the housing programme, launched by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last month, will see the development of 116,000 units of PPA1M homes nationwide for civil servants. "The government has the PPA1M scheme for civil servants. ADVERTISEMENT Through this we will build 116,000 houses for civil servants; we expect it to be completed by 2018," he told newsmen after a briefing on the rationalisation of public service schemes to Kedah civil servants here today. Also present were Congress of Unions of Employees of Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) president Datuk Azih Muda and Kedah state secretary Datuk Bakar Din. Zabidi was asked to comment on a statement made by Azih whereby he said that almost a million civil servants or 60 per cent of the total 1.6 million civil servants have yet to own a house. He was reported as saying 75 per cent of them were those aged 40 and below.
