Kota Kinabalu: City police chief ACP M Chandra assured the public that the police force would render its full assistance to the third Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race 2016. "We fully support the dragon boat race organised by The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), as it is an international race and tourism event recognised by the State Government."

He said this during a courtesy call by the FCAS delegation, led by its President Datuk Seri Dr TC Goh here.

Chandra said the dragon boat race participants cab rest assured that Kota Kinabalu is safe.

Apart from the two special cases recently, Chandra said there has been no other cases that presented high security threat.

He said the Foh Sang shooting and arson attack in Likas were not normal cases.

"These will not affect the overall security in Kota Kinabalu," he said.

Chandra said police personnel would be stationed at the venue of the dragon boat race to ensure the event is carried out smoothly. The police permit required for the race had also been approved.

Meanwhile, Goh said was pleased with the assurance by the police, adding that Chandra had always been a people-friendly police chief.

Goh also invited Chandra to the Sunset Beach Welcome Party on May 20 and opening ceremony on May 22.
