Kota Kinabalu: The four-day Police Retirees Expedition Convoy set off for the interior on Tuesday with the 14-member crew looking forward to visiting their fellow police retirees in Keningau, Semporna, Kunak, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Ranau.Convoy leader ACP (rtd) Sulaiman Junaidi said the expedition aims to reconnect with other police retirees and to strengthen the relationship with one another.

"During this trip, we will be visiting our friends especially those who are sick and in need and help them financially, as much as we can. We also wish to rekindle the friendship because for many of us, we have not seen each other for 20, 30 years," he said.

The four-car convoy will make a stopover in Keningau before heading out to Tawau where they will be joined by other members.

Meanwhile, former Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Jamil Johari who is also the president of the Police Retirees Association said the association had planned various programmes for its members including shooting competition and reunion dinner which will be held in the near future.

"The dinner, fully supported by the Commissioner of Police Datuk Rashid Harun will be held on May 20 and while the shooting activity will be held on May 14," he said.

Currently, the association has 82 members and they are hoping to be formally registered with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) so that more activities can be held in the future, particularly fundraising activities.
