Dept's inaction upsets NGO
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Wildlife Department has come under heavy criticism from a non-governmental organisation over its inaction over the illegal sale of bushmeat in Nabawan Tamu.Wildlife Watchers, in a statement issued, said it was totally appalled by the lack of commitment and integrity of the department in pursuing the case.

It said one of its officers had publicly vowed to take action and catch the culprits but this has proven to be merely a lip service.

"It looks like the Wildlife Department is all Nato (no action but talk only) as usual. We have received some photos from our supporters in Keningau who went to the tamu on Saturday.

"It looks like the tamu in Nabawan is still very busily and actively selling endangered wildlife species," it said.

The NGO was disappointed to learn that not a single wildlife enforcement officer was even in sight.
