Rhinos hold Negeri 2-2

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Rhinos managed to salvage a point against one of the top teams in Premier League, Negeri Sembilan at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, Tuesday night.Head coach Vjeran Simunic was delighted with his boys' performance in the match which saw Sabah tied Negeri Sembilan 2-2.

"Finally Sabah managed to obtain good results against one of the top five teams and I am very proud with their performances as it gave us good results.

"I think 2-2 is almost like a victory as when you see Negeri Sembilan, they are very strong… moreover, they are playing at home with backings from their supporters.

"I am sure this result will motivate our fans to fill up the stadium in our next home game," he said, adding that the team have been playing at a constant good level in 10 consecutive matches.

Maxsius Musa scored the opening goal for the Rhinos with a brilliant finishing as early as the 7th minute.

But Negeri Sembilan's Andrew Nabbout netted the equaliser in the 42nd minute.

The home team scored their second goal through former Sabah's foreign import, Joel Chianese in the 70th minute.

Ummareng Bacok became the Rhinos' saviour with a close range shot from a Marco Tulio corner kick in the 81st minute to make it even.

Ball possession was almost equal with more chances created by the home team.

Sabah had so far collected eight points from 10n matches with two wins and two draws and their next match will be against Perlis at Likas Stadium, here, on May 17.
