Man charged with causing hurt with iron rod

Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old man was charged with causing hurt to another man with an iron rod.Zul Kasturi Abdul Harun pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun after the charge was read to him on Thursday.However, Kakayun adjourned Zul's sentencing to June 3 this year pending the availability of the alleged victim's medical report.

Zul is accused of assaulting the 21-year-old man with the iron rod at 8.57am on April 27 at Dunco Sdn Bhd in Kolombong, Inanam.The offence under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to three years and fine, or whipping, or with any of the two punishments.The court released Zul on a bail of RM1,200 in two local sureties.Counsel Goldam Hamid represented Zul.

In the same court, a 17-year-old juvenile was charged with stealing two sets of stubby tools.No plea was recorded from the boy as his plea would be taken at the Court for Children on June 2 this year.

Meanwhile, in the Sessions Court, a foreign gardener was fined RM800 in default two months' jail for violating the condition on his work pass by working as a lorry driver.Yoseph Sino was found in breach of the condition during a roadblock along Jalan Kg Sangkir in Kota Belud on April 26.
