PUNB approves loans of RM43m for S'wk

Kuching: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) has approved loans of RM43 million to more than 60 Sarawak entrepreneurs in an effort to improve their numbers and quality.Chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said for this year, PUNB allocated RM5.0 million to finance at least 30 Sarawak Bumiputera entrepreneurs."To date, nine entrepreneurs have received financing of RM1.75 million from PUNB," he told Bernama after visiting Fieldmart Linen and Laundry Services Sdn Bhd here Thursday.

It is among the Sarawak companies to have received financing from PUNB. Last year, RM4.45 million in loans was approved to 26 Sarawak entrepreneurs.The loans, said Mohd Ali, had succeeded in benefiting various businesses, among them, printing, automotive, pharmacies, optical shops, spas, restaurants and the manufacturing of kek lapis. He called for more Bumiputera entrepreneurs in the state to come forward and under the ambit of PUNB, so that they can be helped with financing and counselling to strengthen their businesses. "We want to see more Bumiputera entrepreneurs and as such, are redoubling our efforts. We know that nine out of 10 sources of income are from business," he said. Mohd Ali also said the Sarawak Bumiputera entrepreneurs were by day becoming more successful and competitive.

PUNB is also offering a counselling service for pre-business operations, premises valuation and other business advice, apart from providing oversight on performance and accounts, to ensure entrepreneurs are on the right track. – Bernama
