GEORGE TOWN: The DAP is not keen to contest in the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections, says its Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng.Declining to comment further on the candidates for Pakatan Harapan for the by-elections, he, however, said all decisions would be made after the Presidential Council level Pakatan Harapan Leadership Council meeting.

"On DAP's part, we are not interested...we are not keen to contest in the two areas," he said.

Commenting further, Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, said matters on the by-election at the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency should be first referred to Selangor Menteri Besar and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as it was under Selangor.

The two by-elections will be held following the deaths of Kuala Kangsar MP and Malaysian Palm Oil Board Chairman Datuk Wan Muhammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad (BN) and Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister and Sungai Besar MP, Datuk Noriah Kasnon, in a helicopter mishap in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 6. The Election Commission fixed polling for both seats on June 18, with a two-week campaign period.
