BIM winner adds another feather to her cap

Tuaran: The winner of the Women Veteran category of the Borneo International marathon (BIM) held in Kota Kinabalu on May 1, Hamisah Antahar, proved her prowess once again when she won the same category of the Sulaman May Run held here on Sunday.For the 45-year-old school teacher, having travelled all the way from Beaufort to take part in the event was not in vain."Actually, I started running only last year as I also keep fit by playing badminton and being a part-time Zumba instructor.ADVERTISEMENT "As for marathons or runs, at first I did it just for fun by taking part in short-distance or mini marathons. But after my first run, the 12km-Alliance Bank Run, I gained some confidence and there has been no looking back since," she added.Within a short span of just slightly over a year, she has had a string of achievements including winning the Keningau Baginda Run, the Kundasang Mesilauthon Run, and the Kadamaian Nature Run; plus the recent BIM which she described as the climax."Honestly, I never expected to win the BIM as it was my first full marathon and I was competing against 'real veterans'," she quipped.ADVERTISEMENT The first runner-up in the Women Veteran category of Sulaman May Run was Christina Daramat and in third place was Soihi Gandan.The Women Open was won by Hyenie Roslin Danius, followed by Mailin Salungin and Mohida Bouting.

In the Men Open category, the winner was Sapiring Sumping followed by Walter Herman and Frederic Herman. The Men Veteran was won by Yusof Tongkop.All winners received their prizes from the Political Secretary to the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Abdul Kassim Razali who represented his Minister.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Also present was the Political Secretary to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Joisin Romut.Earlier, the Sulaman May Run which started at 5.30am was flagged off by the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor who is also Sulaman Assemblyman.
