Tawau: A power outage which lasted for about 25 minutes during a Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat event at Kalabakan MP Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh's house last Monday proved to be embarrassing for him. "I am truly embarrassed by the incident. I have spoken about this issue all this time in Parliament but it seems like the quality of service which we have in the East Coast is still very poor," he said. He expressed regret over the incident which in a small way, disrupted the event when the main guest, Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin, had to stop his speech. ADVERTISEMENT According to Ghapur, his side had already written to the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) prior to the ceremony and had requested for a generator set to be on the safe side, however SESB failed to do so. The event was attended by some 700 guests. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

"We have only four more years to go before we reach Vision 2020. But if this is how SESB provides us its service, it seems like instead of moving forward, we are going backward," he said sarcastically. He urged the Federal and State governments to take appropriate steps to address the issue of power outage which happens frequently in the State.
