Kota Kinabalu: Those attending the Sunset Music Fest will not be facing any accommodation problem, said Sri Pelancongan Sabah (SPS) General Manager Sitti Damsal.According to her, the lack of accommodation arose previously as the music fest was held at the same time as Kudat Coconut Festival.

"But we have liaised with Kudat District Office and they have agreed to hold the Coconut Festival after the Sunset Music Fest.

"So this year, there will be plenty of accommodation for visitors," she said during a press conference at Sabah Tourism Board's office, here, on Tuesday. The Sunset Music Fest will be held at the Tip of Borneo, Kudat, on June 4, from 5pm to 9pm.

Earlier, Sabah Tourism Board (STB) Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the tenth edition of the Sunset Music Fest is a unique opportunity for music lovers to enjoy good music while visiting other interesting sites in Kudat.

"Concert-goers are encouraged to explore the many places of interest in Kudat, including the Rungus longhouses, Gombizau Honey Bee Farm and the Sumangkap gong-making village.

"Since the concert will be held during the school holidays, parents can also take the opportunity to bring the children for a holiday in Kudat."

Joniston also disclosed that the concert will only be a one-day event this year unlike the previous editions where it was held for two days.

The outdoor concert offers the audience a spectacular natural backdrop of the sun setting over the Sulu and South China seas as they are serenaded by some of the best talents in the State.

Taking centre stage this year are Akademi Fantasia alumni Marsha Milan, Farhan Azizan and Dafi.

The other performers are Esther Applunius, The Deep Buskers, D'Fransiscan UKE Onosi and Matlankidz and Brothers.

In conjunction with the music fest, MASwings is also offering up to 70 per cent discount on flights to Kota Kinabalu for travel between May 27 and June 12 this year.

The litter-free event is brought to public by STB and is organised by SPS.

Tickets for the music festival are sold at RM50 per person.

Return transportation is available for ticket holders at RM20 per person.
