Kaamatan-cum-Gawai in Semporna

Semporna: About 200 people from the Kadazandusun Murut and Dayak communities here gathered for the first time to celebrate the Harvest Festival and Gawai Dayak.Various activities were held during the twin celebration last Saturday such as cultural performances and lucky draw. Traditional food was also served to guests.

According to District Police Chief Supt Peter Anak Umbuas, who was the event's organising chairman, the twin celebration was meant especially for members from both communities who may not be able to return home to celebrate with their families."We don't want them to feel left out because these celebrations are important for them," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
