Water Dept making Tawau folks suffer, says DAP

Tawau: The district Water Department has been urged to solve the water disruption at Sin Onn Tiku area as soon as possible as the problem has dragged on since early this year.Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Chan Foong Hin said residents of the area, including Mah On San, Sin Onn Mile 4 to Mile 8, experienced inconsistent water supply since Chinese New Year.The DAP Tawau Chief said Tawau residents generally have been suffering from a water crisis as a consequence of El Niño and low water level in Sungai Tawau.

"But now everyday we have rain in Tawau.So what's the excuse for not being able to provide consistent water supply to this area?" Chan asked.He said the Tawau Water Department office fed him with various technical reasons for not being able to provide consistent supply. "I would like to know, is it purely technical problem, or working attitude problem?" he said and urged the department to reduce the burden of the people.
