80pc kids from poor, abusive backgrounds

Tambunan: Up to 80 per cent of the 60 children at the Bondulu Children's Home in Toboh, here, are from single parent, poor or abusive families.This was revealed by caretakers of the Home, Sister M Germaine Angkangon and Sr M Doris @ Theodora Abiu to a group from Diriwan Corporation Sdn Bhd, who brought cheer to the children.The Diriwan team led by Yu Yet Shan, Assistant General Manager, brought goodies as well as assistance to the home where children aged between six and 17 years old resided.ADVERTISEMENT Sister M. Germaine said such visits were appreciated as they provided hope that they were not abandoned by society.The team was briefed on the needs of the children and malnutrition was a factor highlighted as the Home could not provide sufficient meat and fish to feed them due to high cost of purchasing.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The Home was set up in 1994 to provide a good living and education environment to needy children and ensure they would have a better future."Visits by groups or individuals are always welcomed because they boost the enthusiasm of these children in their daily undertaking," Sister Germaine said.
