Sports in kampungs help leaders identify problems

Tawau: Sport activity in kampung areas enable leaders to identify problems in their areas. Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Tanjung Batu Chief, Jhasarry Kang said sports like volley ball competition for example, is also a good platform for young leaders to keep in touch with the younger generation."This will be enable the youths to know our presence and subsequently can be recruited as members. ADVERTISEMENT At the same time, we can get to know them more closely and understand them if there is any problem in their area."But most importantly I hope it can also strengthen friendship among participants," he said while attending the two-day volleyball competition at Kg Tanjung Batu Laut, over the weekend organised by PBS N. 59 Tanjung Batu Youth.Jhasarry praised the branch chief for organising the event. He said the aim was to get more youths to participate and this prove their capability.ADVERTISEMENT "The youths are so excited, they just want to perform and prove themselves," he citsaid.Organiser, Hassan Tarasan who is also PBS Kg Tanjung Batu Laut Branch Chief said the two days event have successfully attracted 24 teams comprising 12 male groups and 12 female groups respectively which coming from various clubs, bodies and the village communities.

For the male category, One M team emerged champion and followed by Thunder VC and Project Gaggil VC & Saiko at the first and second runner-up, respectively. For the female category, TBL (A) won the champion title, while Halilintar V (first runner up) and Fight Team & Saiko (B) were at second runner up.
