Khoo vs Shiak for SGCC presidency at AGM today

Kota Kinabalu: There will be a two-horse race for the President's post as Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) goes to its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today (Thursday) at 7pm where the main agenda will be the elections of the executive committee for 2016/2017.Heavyweight and former SGCC President Datuk Peter Khoo will face challenge from Shiak Vui Ming in a straight fight after incumbent Datuk George Bandusena opted not to defend his post.

Khoo has a wealth of experience in the running of the club, having served three years in the past as President as well as deputy president and also as captain for four years running, one year as secretary and as committee member for two years.

His running mates include Peter Wong Lieng Kiong who will be vying for the Deputy President's post.

The veteran golfer who has won 55 open titles in his prime will face lawyer Richard Chua and incumbent Danny Lim.

Wong has also served as deputy president of the club for six years previously and as captain for two years and he was instrumental in the establishment of the club's junior development programme.

He also captained the state team and guided them to win the SGA Cup against Sarawak for three consecutive years.

Meanwhile, there will also be a three-cornered fight for the Secretary's post with incumbent Raymond Tan up against Ian Yong and Terry Wong.

The post of Captain and Treasurer went uncontested where incumbents Ng Loong Fah and Peter R. Wong retained their respective post while there are 23 candidates vying for the 10 committee member posts.
