Victory the champs

Kota Kinabalu: Team Victory from Labuan were crowned champions in the 2nd Kinabalu Borneo Cup Lawn Bowls Open Triples Championship which ended at the Likas Lawn Bowl Green, Thursday. The threesome of Salahudin Razali, Zulaizad Zulkifli and Zulfikar Mansor took home the top cash prize of RM5,000 by beating the team Solid trio of Affendy Tan, Sufian Buang and Hairi Hamzah 14-11 in the final.

Affendy and his teammates went home with RM2,500 while the joint third place of Sandakan A (Saadan Alak, Heorge Ensil and Khairul Faiz Ishak) and Tiger Sabah (Dayang Lapuan Omar, Abdul Murah Laksanah, Lawrence Eiging) each collected RM1,000.

Earlier in the semifinals, the champion defeated Sandakan A 14-10 while Solid thrashed Tiger Sabah 23-4.

A total of 42 teams including 10 from foreign countries with three each from Perth and Brunei, two from Philippines and one each from debutants Thailand and Japan took part in the four-day event jointly organised by Sabah Lawn Bowls Association (SLBA) and Borneo Sports and Adventure Holidays.

The prizes were given away by SLBA President Ladislaus Maluda to the winners and also present at the closing ceremony were SLBA Deputy President Shuib Hashim and other guests.
