Kota Kinabalu: House break-in cases where shoes, slippers and clothes frequently go missing prompted city police to conduct an integrated operation at Taman Mahkota in Luyang, here, Friday. "We received information of house break-ins in the area. However, it is not serious, many of the items outside the premises such as shoes, slippers and clothes were frequently reported missing," said City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra.

"This prompted us to conduct an integrated operation in two main locations, namely Taman Mahkota in Luyang and locations in the city centre such as Sinsuran, Segama and Kg Air," he added. He said the operation involved officers and personnel from the police, City Hall, National Registration Department and Immigration Department, among others, to trace and detain illegal immigrants.
A total of 95 people comprising mainly Filipinos and two Indonesians were rounded up for inspections, while seven people were nabbed after they tested positive for drugs. The six-hour operation, which ended at about 7am, also saw the seizure of several items, including contraband cigarettes, machetes, knives and 0.89 grammes of syabu.
