RM700 for Penang Govt staff

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government today announced a three-quarter month salary or a minimum of RM700 as an Aidilfitri special allowance for state civil servants, to be paid on June 24. Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the allowance for the 4,178 civil servants would incur a cost of RM7.95 million. "It is in appreciation of the civil servants and takes into account the cost of inflation and significant rise in the cost of living," he said in a statement.

Lim said a RM300 allowance would be given also to each of 1,486 supervisors and teachers of religious and Fardu Ain classes, 192 teachers of Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat, 166 teachers of Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat and 522 teachers and staff of Chinese private schools. He also said that a RM200 allowance would be given to 215 Tahfiz, pondok and Islamic kindergarten teachers. – Bernama
