Putatan: State civil servants are advised to spend the RM500 special allowance which they will be getting in their June salaries wisely. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said it is imperative for them not to indiscriminately spend the allowance but on catering to their family's needs, especially those celebrating Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

"The State Government is giving out the special allowance like what the Federal civil servants in the peninsula are getting for the coming celebration," he said.

Musa, who is State Finance Minister, said this after breaking fast with the State Umno Zone 2 at the Putatan district mosque here on Wednesday. Zone 2 includes Umno Putatan, Umno Sepanggar, Umno Kota Kinabalu and Umno Penampang.

Recently, the State Government announced a RM500 special financial aid to 17,574 civil servants involving RM8.786 million in the State.

Musa said Umno Sabah would never miss organising the breaking of fast with six zones in Sabah as it is also a good platform for the leaders to meet and mingle with the grassroots at divisional level.

Musa who is also Sabah Umno Liaison Chief and Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah Chairman was pleased that leaders of BN component parties were also present at the annual event.

He also called on them to preserve the peace and practice of breaking fast together in the Ramadan month with people from different backgrounds to foster good ties.
