Kota Kinabalu: Muhd Naveed denied Kayden Liaw his second title in a month when he edged the State Under-15 player 11-5, 1-11, 11-9, 11-8 in the Open final of the Best of the Best tournament held at the Likas Squash Courts recently.The youngster, who won the recent Tawau Open title, had earlier caused a major upset when he defeated tournament second seed Arslan Khan 9-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 13-11 in the semifinal while Naveed defeated Under-17 player Nicholas Tan 11-8, 11-8, 11-7 in the other semi.In the play-off, Arslan Khan beat Nicholas Tan 11-7, 11-7, 11-8, 11-2, 11-8 to claim the third place.ADVERTISEMENT Meanwhile, former champion Jackson Yen proved that he is still top among his peers when he captured the veteran title beating Pora Wong in straight sets 11-8, 12-10, 11-2 in the final.Third place went to Lai Pak Peng who beat Tony Ng 11-7, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 in the play-off.Earlier in the semi finals, Jacksen defeated Tony Ng 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 and Pora Wong beat Lai Pak Peng 11-8, 11-2, 11-4.There were also junior categories held in the inaugural meet with the boys Under-15 title going to Muhd Azib. The girls Under-15 title was won by Audrey Richard with second to fourth places going to Etain Tay, Jerica Johnny and Deborah Lai.

Euven Liaw was the boys Under-11 champion with Danny Gan in second place and Tristan Andreas in third, and Clement Richard in fourth while the top four places in the girls Under-11 category went to Rachel Richard, Doyce Lee, Euodia Lai and Adawiyah Agillah.
