Ranau: Two people were seriously injured and another slightly injured when the Isuzu Dmax four-wheel drive they were travelling in collided with a 10-tonne Nissan UD lorry at Km 30 of the Ranau-Telupid Road, near Kg Nabutan, Monday. The seriously injured were the driver of the Isuzu Dmax, Mohd Azizul Alih, 29, and his passenger, Sapli Rajak, 24, while another passenger, Rafio Juhde, 24, suffered minor injuries and the driver of the lorry escaped unhurt.

Ranau Police Chief DSP Lee Mohd Farhan Abdulah, who confirmed the incident, said initial investigation revealed that the Dmax driver was trying to overtake a vehicle when the accident occurred.

"The driver was trying to overtake when his vehicle's right front tyre suddenly exploded, causing it to skid out of control and collided with the lorry coming from the opposite direction," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
