Kudat: Construction of the RM8.8 million ramp for the roll-on-roll-off (RoRo) service linking Kudat and the province of Palawan, Philippines, has been completed. Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Suria Capital Group chairman Datuk Faisyal Diego, Suria Capital Chief Executive Officer Ng Kiat Ming, Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mohd Sahid Nawab Khan recently inspected the new RoRo ramp and facilities here.

Teo, who is also Tanjong Kapor Assemblyman, expressed his satisfaction of the new ramp.

He said the RoRo service was supposed to commence upon completion of the RoRo facilities.

However, Teo explained that the service has been put on hold due to the ban on barter trade activities between Sabah and the Philippines in light of security concerns in the east coast of the State.

Nonetheless, he assured that the RoRo service between Kudat and Palawan would commence once the barter trade ban was lifted.

Teo added that the RoRo service would bolster economic development and tourism in Kudat.

Also present were Tanjong Kapor Community Development Leader (PPM) Datuk Peter Chin, Political Secretary to the Minister, Peter Chong and Liaison Secretary to the Minister, Albert Kok.
