SESB activates ops room to monitor power supply in Likas

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has activated its 24-hr operations room in Tanjung Lipat to monitor the status of electricity supply in the Likas area, here.According to a statement, some areas in Likas suffered blackouts after a major electrical appliance in the Main Intake Substation (MIS) caught fire last Friday night.

More than 100 SESB staff and its contractors started repair works after the incident and are expected to completed the work on July 5.

SESB is currently investigating the cause of fire and estimated loss following the incident.

In light of the incident SESB put up a mini power station in MIS Tanjung Lipat consisting of seven mobile generator sets capable of generating seven megawatts to support the increasing electrical load in the areas and three more sets were expected to arrive on Monday afternoon.

Electricity supply to all domestic users was fully restored at 5.25pm on Sunday while the supply to the Sabah Trade Centre building and its surroundings was expected to be restored on Monday.

Users who still do not have electricity are advised to contact the SESB hotline at 15454 and 088-515000.
