Kota Kinabalu: IEC Midas, together with the Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta), Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) and Inter Education Consult Sdn Bhd, will be holding the Asia Pacific Travel Fair 2016 on Oct 1-3 at Oceanus Waterfront Mall here. According to event organiser IEC Midas Managing Partner Dolly Jimayol, the fair this year is supported by Satta where members of Satta and MCTA Sabah Chapter and Malaysian tour agents under Matta would come to promote their respective products and services with travel package deals.

The Sabah International Travel Fair which is a platform to network exchange and assist the domestic travel industry to link up with international counterparts to enhance cooperation and provide business opportunities and bring Sabah to the world would have an underlying event name, namely Asia Pacific Travel Fair 2016.

She said for the inaugural event they would also target tour and travel agents, tourism boards and consulates from neighbouring countries including Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines as well as Japan, China, Taiwan and Australia, adding that the Indonesian Consulate has confirmed to join the fair.

Dolly said this at a press conference at IEC Midas office building here, Tuesday.

"We believe that having more travel fairs in the State, inbound or outbound, will give wider opportunities to local tour and travel agents to promote their products and services and an opportunity to network within the industry.

She said the added benefit of taking part in the fair was that participants can raise their profile in the industry and add value to their brands while promoting their latest product/travel package to a targeted audience, consolidating their position in the industry, reinforce customer loyalty and reinforce existing business relationship.

Dolly said based on the previous year's fair numbers of an estimated 2,000 visitors per day they would expect that this time round there will be more visitors.

Satta President Dato Seri Winston Liaw said Satta and MCTA members would also be taking 20 booths at the fair with the remainder 30 booths under IEC Midas and 20 booths for the IEC Education Fair.

In order to complement the travel fair, there will be two co-location where in the first, Sabah Tourism Exhibition will be showcasing and selling to the public thus giving local entrepreneurs opportunity to network with the travel industry while selling and promoting their items and the second is the IEC Education Fair where at least 40 institutions with over 20 booths will be at the fair including a group of eight Australian Universities, top UK/USA/Canadian universities and career talks will also be presented.

This year, the IEC Education Fair, other than being held at the Oceanus Waterfront Mall on Oct 1-2, will also be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan on Sept 30.

All counselling application and visa guidance services are free of charge when submitted to one of over 100 represented institutions at IEC.

Also present were MCTA Sabah Vice Chairman Shim and Inter Education Consult Sdn Bhd Executive Director Jasmine Leong.
