Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old man was fined RM2,000 or one month's jail for having illegal 4-D lottery paraphernalia.Chong Chee Phin pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to committing the offence at 12.30pm on Dec 9, 2015 at Kedai New Nam Pang in Donggongon town, in Penampang.Inspector Azaman Hamat, prosecuting, told the court that Chong was detained by police for operating the illegal lottery business.

The paraphernalia, including four 4-D slips, a calculator, a pen, a handphone, a stapler and RM82, all of which were seized from him.Chong had committed an offence under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months' jail on conviction.
In another case, a 21-year-old man who admitted to having a stolen motorcycle was placed on a good behaviour bond for two years.The court made the decision after going through Khairul Munir's social report which was tendered in court by a welfare officer.

Khairul pleaded guilty to having one Fareez Alimuddin's motorcycle at 12.30pm on Jan 9 at a house in Kg Lembising, Putatan.Earlier, counsel Aida Jaafar Mad Ariff, representing Khairul, told the court that Khairul bought the machine from a neighbour, one Ismail, who informed him that the machine belonged to an uncle, who needed money.

After buying the machine, Khairul kept asking for the registration card of the machine but Ismail kept saying it was still with his uncle.
