Papar: Umno Papar Divisional Chief Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail said a recent claim that the State polls or the 14th General Election will be held by next year is just a rumour that did not affect the division's preparation at all. This is because, he said, the division has always been on standby to face the election either at State or national level at any time."For Umno Papar, we have no worry as the division is fully ready to gear our election machinery as well as the grassroots at any time the general or state polls are called because we are have been on ready mode for quite some time now," he said.

Rahim who is also Pantai Manis assemblyman said this to Daily Express after presenting Ramadan contributions to 700 orphans and single mothers at the Datuk Salleh Sulong hall here.He was commenting on the rumour that the State polls and 14th General Election would be held early following the victory of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the just- concluded election in Sarawak and the two by-elections won by the ruling coalition.
"The way I look at this rumour is that it is a good thing and reflects full confidence. Nonetheless, we will comply with any directive coming from the Sabah Umno Liasion Chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman and the top leadership as to when we should be gearing up for the election.
